Eurachem Workshop - Uncertainty from sampling and analysis for accredited laboratories

Venue and date

The workshop was held on 19-20 November 2019. The workshop was kindly hosted by BAM at BAM headquarters, Unter den Eichen, Berlin, Germany with support from EUROLAB-Deutschland. Approximately 130 participants attended, from 37 countries. The meeting included invited presentations, contributed oral presentations, and discussion and poster sessions. Aims and topics

Aims

The workshop considered measurement uncertainty evaluation for sampling and analysis in the context of ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The workshop was intended for laboratory managers and staff concerned with

  • designing and implementing sampling protocols to ensure acceptable levels of uncertainty in results and conclusions
  • developing and maintaining field or laboratory procedures for measurement uncertainty evaluation and reporting to meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017
  • reporting measurement uncertainty in conformity assessment decisions under ISO/IEC 17025:2017

Quality Assurance Elements for Analytical Laboratories in the University Curriculum - Online

Eurachem 2020 banner

Overview

This online international workshop attracted 79 participants from 23 countries as far afield as Iran and Brazil. The Workshop, hosted by Eurachem Romania and the University Politehnica of Bucharest, addressed issues of interest for specialists working in academia, accreditation bodies, and in domains where the outcome of analytical laboratories is definitive. Attendance included participants in clinical and pharmaceutical analysis, environmental and food quality assessment, nuclear analysis and others. The meeting included invited presentations, contributed oral presentations, and discussion and poster sessions.

Eurachem e WS July 2020 - Audience members

Online event

In light of the global coronavirus health emergency in 2020, Eurachem-Romania and the Organizing Committee took the decision to convert the scientific workshop “Quality assurance for analytical laboratories in the university curriculum” to an entirely virtual scientific meeting, held on 14-15 July 2020. The workshop accordingly became the first Eurachem Online Workshop.

  • The importance of QA guidelines included in University Curriculum
  • Understanding the importance of QA when reporting scientific data
  • The challenges in future University Curriculum to comply with the requirements of data quality, reference materials for determinations in analytical laboratories
  • Understanding the needs of the interested activity sectors as: environmental, food, clinical, pharmaceutical or forensics, regarding the quality assurance in their analytical laboratories

Quality Assurance Challenges of Measurements from Field to Laboratory with a Focus on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Requirements

The workshop was kindly hosted by the Georgian Laboratory Association (GeLab), in conjunction with the 2022 Eurachem General Assembly.

The workshop was run online over three days. Over 120 participants attended, from 33 countries.The workshop addressed current practices, challenges, and future recommendations on quality assurance of physochemical and microbiological measurement methods and their validation, including sampling-related issues.

Workshop Aims

This workshop was intended to be of direct relevance to anyone who is focused on the quality of analytical measurements and the reliability of decisions based on test results in accordance with ISO/IEC17025 requirements, taking into account the influence of factors that exist outside the laboratory environment. Such factors are mainly related to sampling or on-site measurements, and occur in the daily life of laboratories operating in many different fields such as food and beverages, health, environment, forensics, pharmaceuticals, etc.

Eurachem Czech Republic invited scientists, PhD students and professionals from laboratories and public bodies to this Online Scientific Workshop to discuss and present their findings on metrology in analytical sciences.
