7th June is World Food Safety Day, chosen this year also as a key date for celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Codex Alimentarius (https://www.fao.org/fao-who-codexalimentarius/en/). The theme of the day is “Food standards save lives”, stressing the point that foodborne illness is almost entirely preventable, if appropriate measures are implemented to keep food safe.
In this article from Marina Patriarca, our liaison to Codex Alimentarius, we look at how Codex's 60 years of operation have improved food safety, and how Eurachem helps laboratories to meet Codex's Standards and best practice guidelines.

Ecosystem restoration depends fundamentally on a sufficiently effective measurement of the current state of the ecosystem. Such measurements enable both the design of an effective method of restoration and also the monitoring of the extent to which the restoration has been effective. Contaminated land measurements often show large uncertainties arising from sampling effects, and a good understanding of the uncertainty is important for properly informed risk analysis.
