The Eurachem method validation working group has  released a completely revised and updated edition of the Eurachem guide "The fitness for purpose of analytical methods".

First published in 1998, this guide gives general guidance on within-laboratory method validation. The new edition includes guidance on the concept of method validation; the background and rationale for method validation; how a method validation study should be performed and how much should be done; the various validation parameters (performance characteristics) and their determination; and follow-up issues such as reporting validation studies, method documentation, and use of performance data in Internal Quality Control. The new edition also includes brief notes on some aspects of validation that are specific to qualitative test methods.
