New leaflet on Bayes theorem for qualitative tests

Our Qualitative Analysis working group has published a new information Leaflet on the interpretation of qualitative test results using bayes' theorem.

"Should Gabriel visit Maria? A short introduction to Bayes’ Theorem" is short story showing how the prevalence of a characteristic - in this case the prevalence of a disease - affects the interpretation of test results.

Registration open for our 11th PT Workshop

Registration is now open for our 11th International Workshop on Proficiency Testing in Analytical Chemistry, Microbiology and Laboratory Medicine.

This four-day workshop features a day of training sessions covering key aspects of Proficiency testing, followed by three days of presentations and interactive discussions on key themes for PT.

"Basic instructions for PT" leaflet now available in French

Our PT working group has published a French translation of our Information Leaflet, "Basic instructions for participants in a proficiency testing scheme", with thanks to our French colleagues.

This leaflet includes essential tips to help participants avoid common mistakes and achieve successful outcomes. It also contains a comprehensive checklist outlining the key steps to consider when participating in a proficiency testing (PT) scheme.

Method Validation Supplements Revised

The third edition of the Eurachem Guide The fitness for purpose of analytical methods was published earlier this year. The Method Validation Working Group are pleased to announce that the second edition of two supplements to this guide are now available.

The second edition of the supplementary document Planning and reporting method validation studies has been updated in line with the third edition of the Fitness for purpose guide and also includes additional information on the extent of validation.

The second edition of the supplementary document Blanks in method validation has also been updated in line with the third edition of the Fitness for purpose guide and now encompasses blanks related to sampling.
