Webinar: Ensuring Analytical Excellence - The Eurachem Fitness for Purpose Guide, 3rd edition, for Method Validation and Verification

Overview
The reliability of analytical results underpins sound decision‑making across all laboratory sectors. The Eurachem Guide on Fitness for Purpose of Analytical Methods is a cornerstone of method quality assurance and aligns with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and other ISO standards. This webinar will introduce participants to the third edition – published in 2025 - of this globally recognised and much downloaded guide from Eurachem. Attendees will learn how to distinguish between method validation and method verification, understand the importance of sampling in relation to the validation process and explore the key performance characteristics—selectivity, limits of detection and quantitation, working range, analytical sensitivity, trueness (bias/recovery), precision (repeatability, intermediate precision, reproducibility), and ruggedness. Practical guidance on designing validation/verification studies, establishing calibration functions, and implementing quality‑control strategies will be presented, together with insights into supplementary Eurachem documents that support method validation and verification. By the end of the session, participants will have a clear understanding of the method validation process that is required to demonstrate that analytical methods are truly fit for purpose. This webinar serves as both an introduction for new analytical scientists and a valuable refresher for experienced practitioners.
The event will be chaired by Dr. Helen Cantwell, Chair of the Eurachem Method Validation Working Group (MVWG). Presentations will be by Dr. Pieter Dehouck and Dr. Marios Kostakis.
