Welcome to Eurachem, a network of organisations in Europe having the objective of establishing a system for the international traceability of chemical measurements and the promotion of good quality practices. It provides a forum for the discussion of common problems and for developing an informed and considered approach to both technical and policy issues. It provides a focus for analytical chemistry and quality related issues in Europe.

PT schemes for sampling play an important role in the improvement of sampling procedures and also in the development of participants from an educational point of view, especially if workshops with the participants are organised. The EEE-PT Working Group has developed a new Information Leaflet giving guidance on the application of ISO/IEC 17043 for PT providers organising PT schemes for sampling. If there is a comparison between participants and a mechanism for performance evaluation which meets the objective of the PT scheme for sampling, then ISO/IEC 17043 is applicable.
The new leaflet is currently available in English, with other translations planned.
Thanks to the work of our colleagues in Eurolab-Espana, Eurachem has issued the first Spanish translation of the Eurachem/CITAC Guide "Traceability in Chemical Measurement".
Currently in its second edition in English, the Guide is intended to assist laboratories in meeting the requirements on traceability of results given in ISO/IEC 17025, giving principles and detailed guidance on establishing of metrological traceability in quantitative chemical analysis. Though aimed principally at testing and measurement laboratories, the principles are expected to apply from routine analysis to basic research.
Eurachem are pleased to announce that we will be supporting the 17th IMEKO TC 10 and EUROLAB Virtual Conference: “Global Trends in Testing, Diagnostics & Inspection for 2030”, which will be held on-line, on October 20-22, 2020.
The conference will be a virtual forum for exchanging ideas about challenges for the third decade in regard to new technologies, techniques, methods, standards, conformity assessment, quality management and their application in industrial processes and scientific community.
Following the cancellation of the workshop in May owing to the Covid-19 emergency, Eurachem is pleased to advise that the workshop "Quality assurance for analytical laboratories in the university curriculum", is now to be held as an online event.
The online event will be held on 14-15 July 2020. The workshop is kindly hosted by Eurachem Romania and the University Politehnica Bucharest, Romania.
Thanks to our colleagues in Ukraine, the Eurachem PT Working Group has published a new Ukrainian translation of the recent Information Leaflet on investigating poor results in PT. The leaflet gives brief advice on following up unexpectedly poor results in proficiency testing.
