                | 3rd Workshop on Proficiency Testing in Analytical
                Chemistry,
 Microbiology and Laboratory Medicine
 (24), 25 - 26, (27) September 2000, Boras/Gothenburg,
                Sweden

 This EURACHEM-EQALM workshop addresses current
practice, problems and future directions for
proficiency testing (PT) in analytical chemistry,
                microbiology and laboratory medicine. The
workshop targets especially organisers of PT
schemes, technical assessors, QA managers and

of PT/EQA schemes, the use of PT in the
accreditation process, the implementation of the
                uncertainty concept into PT/EQA schemes,
accreditation of PT/EQA schemes, assigned values
and target values for satisfactory performance,
                international guidelines and documents, technical
and logistical challenges, and PT from the

        | October 2000 | 5th EUROLAB Symposium
Confidence in Testing Services - New Expectations, New
        Rules, New Challenges
 04 - 05 October 2000, Edinburgh, Scotland

Dramatic changes have occurred in recent years within the
laboratory world. Customer demands have become ever more
rigorous, legislation is more prevalent, a new approach
to conformity assessment has been evaluated and new
technology has invaded every facet of laboratory
operation. The 5th EUROLAB International Symposium will
discuss and present solutions and models for meeting
        these challenges. Symposium topics are
 * The new ISO/IEC 17025 - implementation and new
        technical requirements
 * Making best use of information technology
 * Customer satisfaction - comprehensive services
 * The extent and efficiency of accreditation -
        transparency of QA
 * Meeting the new challenges facing laboratory management
