September 3rd EURACHEM Workshop on the Status of Traceability in Chemical Measurement

6-8 September 1999, Bratislava, Slovak Republic

jointly organised by EURACHEM-Slovakia and the AOAC Central Europe Subsection

Despite the fact that considerable progress in chemical measurement accuracy has been attained during the last ten years, the real situation is still insufficiently clear, and many unanswered questions remain. The aim of the workshop to be held in Bratislava, Slovak Republic, from 6 - 8 September 1999, is the definition of the status quo and trends of development in this interesting field of measurement.

The programme of the workshop will cover topics like traceability schemes, uncertainty evaluation, primary methods of measurement, reference materials, and interlaboratory comparisons. The 3-day programme comprises plenary lectures, lectures and poster sessions as well as working group discussions. Scientific contributions are still welcome. Renowned speakers like P. de Bièvre, T. Quinn, R. Kaarls, M. Walsh, W. Wegscheider and W. Richter have been invited to present a plenary lecture.

The scientific event will be embedded in an interesting social programme. For further information and the work-shop announcements, please contact :

November

Symposium & Exhibition "Gas Analysis"

7-9 November 1999, Amsterdam,

The Netherlands This symposium & exhibition, organised by ISO/TC 158 "Analysis of gases", gives you the opportunity to ex-change knowledge and collect information on market and research developments in the field of gas analysis. You will meet people from different areas of industry and research, such as air quality, natural gas and process gases. The two-day symposium will have five (parallel) sessions on the following subjects:

  • State-of-the-art in equipment and current instrumentation
  • Traceability, validation, accreditation and measurement uncertainty
  • Analysis of process gases
  • Calibration gases
  • Validation of analytical methods in natural gas

During the symposium there will be an exhibition that gives participants the opportunity to discuss the most re-cent developments in gas analysis with producers of gases and gas analysis equipment. The event will start on 7 November with the opening of the exhibition, an informal get-together, and the registration. The symposium will be held on 8 and 9 November, combined with the exhibition. The registration fee for the symposium is 545 EURO (475 EURO if you register before 1 May 1999). The fee includes lunches, coffee, get-together drinks, and the conference papers. More information and prices of exhibition site areas are available from:
